Our Prefinished Hybrid ABS Veneer American White Oak (Dark) edge banding is one of the first products of its kind available in Australia: genuine American White Oak veneer in a rich dark tone, permanently bonded to a flexible ABS core. Traditional edge banding forces a choice between the authentic look of real timber veneer and the durability of ABS plastic. This hybrid construction delivers both: the deep, dramatic tone and clean flowing grain of real White Oak on the face, with the impact resistance, flexibility and clean machining of ABS behind it.

Each roll is prefinished in the same UV Polyacrylate ≤5% matt coating as our prefinished panel range, so edges match your panel faces perfectly in both colour and sheen, with no staining, sealing or lacquering after application.

Why Hybrid Beats Standard Veneer or ABS Edge Banding

• Real timber, not a printed woodgrain: unlike woodgrain-effect ABS tapes, the face is genuine White Oak veneer, so the grain movement and depth under the dark tone are authentically natural and sit seamlessly beside real veneer panels.
• Tougher than plain veneer tape: the ABS core absorbs knocks and resists chipping on corners and high-traffic edges where thin paper-backed veneer tape is most vulnerable.
• Prefinished and ready to go: standard veneer edging is supplied raw and must be stained and sealed after installation, a real challenge when trying to match a dark factory tone by hand. This tape comes off the roll finished and colour-matched, saving a full finishing step and eliminating colour inconsistency between edge and face.
• Machines like ABS: runs through automatic hot-melt and PUR edgebanders, trims and radiuses cleanly, and its 1mm thickness gives a soft, premium edge profile.

Roll Size and Application

Supplied as a 100 metre continuous roll, 22mm wide and 1mm thick, sized to suit 18mm and 19mm board with trim allowance. Apply with automatic edgebanders using hot-melt EVA or PUR adhesive, or manually with contact adhesive for smaller jobs and site work. The ABS backing bonds reliably to MDF, particleboard, plywood and FOSB edges.
